About The Snowshoe CatIn the late 1960's a surprise Snowshoe appeared when a Siamese was bred
to an American Shorthair. Today most Snowshoes are the result of
Snowshoe to Snowshoe breeding. Snowshoe markings are seal or blue pointed, but also come in chocolate, red, lilac and tabby (or lynx) points. Patterns can be solid (no white), bicolor, irregular, mitted, and high whites. An ideal companion, the Snowshoe is highly intelligent, very affectionate, vocal, active and playful – often having a daily agenda in place. They have striking walnut shaped blue eyes, and a firm, muscular, and agile body. Fully grown, Snowshoes are a medium sized cat ranging from 8 to 16 pounds. With a sparkling and affectionate purrsonality, the Snowshoes enjoy indoor living and love people. They get along well with other Snowshoes, cats of other breeds, and even dogs. Their first love, however, is people, and they will follow family members all around the house. A rare breed, the Snowshoe is enjoying more and more popularity. The Snowshoe is accepted by American Cat Fanciers Association (ACFA), Cat Fanciers Federation (CFF), and The International Cat Association (TICA). Kept indoors, your Snowshoe will be a playful, loyal and happy companion for many years, often living 20 years or more. |
